SUNSET AT BINTULU
March 26, 2008
Waiting for good light to appear for weeks. I guess, the presence of my Wife in Bintulu created the mood for a better photography outing. More effort given in finding good light and proper composition. Hence, these are the keepers.
1/1600 | f/13 | 80mm
Took 3 to 4 different exposures for this pict. started with f/2.8 but the background were too much out of focus. when i saw the fisherman’s boat drifting slowly into the viewfinder, i realized that i need to get a greater depth of field. quickly dialed to f/13. love it.
1/800 | f/8 | 12mm
inspired by some beautiful pictures at fotobyimran, i tried to find the balance between the foreground and background, only to come out with 50:50 ratio of the horizon. i should have dodged the stones at the foreground
1/160 | f/9 | 12mm
Within minutes of the previous frame, i need to drag the shutter speed to a lower value due to the lack of light. It was a peaceful moment for both of us.
1/125 | f/4 | 12mm
A lil bit of fill in flash to light up my Wife. Tokina 12-24mm f/4 never failed me on flash photography. The best 3rd party lens I’ve ever encountered.
1/50 | f/4 | 12mm
Mounted my D70s on the structure (the one that my Wife put her hand on in the frame below) to serve as a tripod for self portraiture. I planned to buy a tripod later, but zulmaha was so kind to give me his extra tripod the other day. more self portraiture?
1/500 | f/2.8 | 200mm
At 200mm f/2.8, nothing could go wrong for me. the repetition of the structure gives the sense of space in this frame. got a few frames where the line were a bit diagonal but the composition were just too safe for instant. the fading light of the sun creates a light halo on my Wife.
1/50 | f/2.8| 100mm
a casual snapshot just before we go back. Taken by my Wife to test her handholding technique at slow shutterspeed. the weight of the 80-200mm f/2.8 push-pull lens can make her hand grow stronger :p

A collection of images captured on a weekly basis in order to run away from the structured behaviour of the engineering world. trying my best to get in touch with my other side of the brain, exhibiting nature and culture in a different perspective.
